What the app does

Cutting Floor takes a video from your photo library, finds the subject in each frame, and cuts it out as a die-cut sticker. Everything happens on your device.

Making stickers

  1. Tap Create, then Start.
  2. Choose how many stickers to cut on the dial, then Continue.
  3. Pick a video. The app scans it and cuts out what it finds.
  4. Turn the handwheel to crank the stickers out.
  5. Keep the ones you want and tap Save, or tap Sheet to print them all onto one sheet.

Clips work best when the subject fills most of the frame and the footage is reasonably sharp — a person, a pet, or a single clear object.

Using your stickers

Saved stickers are available in three places:

Why the keyboard asks for Full Access

iOS uses that single switch to unlock the two things the keyboard needs: reading the stickers you have already saved, and putting a sticker on the clipboard when you tap it. Without it, the keyboard cannot see your stickers at all.

The keyboard does not log your keystrokes and sends nothing anywhere. It could not: the app contains no networking code. See the Privacy Policy.

Free saves and subscriptions

You get two free saves every calendar month. Saving a batch of stickers counts as one, and printing a sticker sheet counts as one. Cutting, cranking, reviewing and browsing are always free and never count against it.

Once the two are used, saving asks you to subscribe. Monthly and yearly both unlock unlimited saves and are otherwise identical — the yearly one simply costs less over a year. Nothing else in the app is locked.

Re-saving or re-exporting a sheet you already made is free. It was paid for once.

Managing or cancelling a subscription

Subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple, not by us. On your device: Settings › your name › Subscriptions › Cutting Floor. From there you can switch between monthly and yearly, or cancel. Cancelling leaves the subscription active until the end of the period you already paid for.

If you have paid before and the app is not recognising it — after reinstalling, for instance — tap Restore Purchases on the subscription screen.

Troubleshooting

"No clear subject" — the app could not find anything it was confident enough to cut out. This usually means the footage is blurry or heavily compressed, or the subject is small in the frame. Try a sharper clip shot closer in.

Fewer stickers than you asked for — the app only keeps cut-outs that came out cleanly, and skips near-identical frames, so a short or static clip yields fewer. Ask for more on the dial, or use a longer clip with more movement.

Stickers missing from the keyboard — check that Allow Full Access is on for the Cutting Floor keyboard in Settings. Without it the keyboard cannot read them.

Stickers missing from Messages — you need at least one saved sticker. Open the app drawer beside the Messages text field and look for Cutting Floor; you may need to scroll, or tap the More button to enable it.

A sheet cannot be re-exported — sheets are re-rendered from the stickers they were made from. If you deleted those stickers and the cached copy has since been cleared, the sheet can no longer be rebuilt. The one already in your Photos is unaffected.

Requirements

iOS 18 or later, on an iPhone or iPad. Subject detection runs on the device's own hardware.
